Overview

The Stable, a commerce agency known for bringing some of the world’s most exciting brands into retailers like Target, Walmart, and Amazon. They acquired two of the country’s leading Shopify agencies, BVA and Zehner. These strategic acquisitions bring together The Stable’s retail strength with BVA and Zehner’s deep DTC and Shopify design and implementation expertise. The combined offering creates the largest, strongest, and most impactful modern commerce agency for consumer brands globally. I was brought on the project for building out a design system and UI design for the entire site.

Challenge

The Stable needed to effectively communicate all service offerings for retail and DTC. They needed to refresh the brand and redesign the website to showcase a variety of work, process, and technology for potential clients. This project was going to require a lot of collaboration across many different departments to be successful. Midway through the project I discovered many UX problems revealed by content for crucial pages. To communicate the service offerings clearly and navigate the site with ease the user experience needed to be improved.

Approach

I took the initial design direction from the brand designer and expanded those designs to create a design system that was realistic for developers to use to build out components and pages across the site. Collaborating was huge on this project, with everyone involved from strategy, development, marketing, and design. I worked with a fellow UI designer to bounce ideas off before landing on the best creative solutions for the problems we faced.

I found the case study filters to be a frustrating experience especially when we had numerous projects based with many services and three different markets. I redesigned the UX of the filters to ensure a more logical experience. I implemented an anchor scroll experience on the service detail pages to minimize endless nonstop scrolling and demanded the marketing team have a character count to ensure readability and consistency. I created a dynamic smart contact form to filter communication for project and client leads to the right people. Many more optimizations along the way to smooth out the user experience. I completed design QA by collaborating with developers to ensure micro interactions, functionality, and UX/UI components were designed correctly and intuitively for users.

Results

We completed design QA and launched the site just in time to celebrate The Stable’s 10 year anniversary. After the announcement went public showed off the new site, soon after The Stable was acquired by Accenture Song. Now The Stable continues to provide commerce services and expertise for Accenture clients who previously didn’t have the opportunity to expand their commerce business.

Homepage

The intent of the homepage was to communicate how The Stable connects brands and consumers across all channels of commerce and outline the services we provide to our wide range of clients from different industries.

Case Studies

Case Studies

With three agencies coming together the list of case studies was quite large. Creating a filter experience to narrow down the case studies by brand size, industry, and service proved to be beneficial in organizing the huge body of work.

Each case study had a color associated with the project to help differentiate them. The service pages all differed in length and adding anchor links to the How We Do It section proved a great way to enhance the scrolling experience by giving power back to the user. The contact form was designed to funnel inquires for new business, tech partners, and careers into their respective channels. Less hoops to jump through for all people trying to get in touch with The Stable.

Results

After we made the announcement public and launched the new site only 6 months later, The Stable was acquired by Accenture Song for it’s experience with all things commerce. Now The Stable continues to provide commerce services and expertise for Accenture clients who previously didn’t have the opportunity to expand their business.
